What Are Retina Disorders?
Retina disorders are diseases that affect the light-sensitive tissue that is at the back portion of your eyes. Your retina is the innermost layer of your eye. The retina has many light-sensitive photoreceptor cells. The purpose of these cells is to detect light and convert it into electrical signals. Those signals travel through the optic nerve that goes to your brain. And this is what gives you sight.

- Retinal Tears
A retinal tear is a tear or hole in your retina. A retinal tear usually happens when the jelly-like substance in your eye called the vitreous attaches to your retina. If it pulls hard enough, it will tear your retina. The vitreous can detach as the result of some type of eye trauma or as part of the normal aging process. You can identify a retinal tear by experiencing blurry vision or suddenly seeing flashes of light or floaters.

- Retinal Detachment

Macular degeneration happens when the macula deteriorates and causes your central vision to become distorted. This disorder can worsen over time and lead to permanent vision loss.
- Retinitis Pigmentosa
Retinitis pigmentosa is generally an inherited disease. This degenerative disease will slowly affect your retina and eventually cause loss of night vision and side vision.
