Meet the doctors and staff of Stam & Associates Eye Care.
Dr. Bryan Stam
Dr. Stam has been a part of the Jacksonville community since 1985. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University and as been practicing in Northeast Florida for the last 19 years. Dr. Stam specializes in primary care optometry including basic comprehensive eye exams for eyeglasses and contacts as well as medical exams for diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc. Dr. Stam’s dedication to vision care goes beyond the clinical practice. He is a past president of the local Northeast Florida Optometric Society and will enter his presidency as the state association leader later this year. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends.
Dr. Gary M. Akel
Raised in Jacksonville and a graduate of Robert E. Lee, Dr. Akel attended Florida State University and the Southern College of Optometry. He has made it his mission to strive to provide high quality eye care with compassion since 1979. Dr. Akel has extensive experience in all eye diseases, especially cataracts, diabetes eye conditions, glaucoma and eye infections. Over the years, he has had many roles beyond clinical practice. He has been involved in the Northeast Florida Optometric Society as well as the Florida Optometric Association. He is also an active member of our community volunteering his time and skills with organizations such as the Sultzbaucher Center and Vision USA. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Akel enjoys boating, traveling with his family and cheering on the Jaguars – DUUUVAL.
Colleen Taylor, Office Manager
Colleen is trained in all areas of the office to assist you when you come in for your appointment. She specializes in providing you with the knowledge in the latest lens technology to give you the best vision for all your lifestyle needs. She can assist you with all of your insurance needs, pre-testing and ensuring that your time spent with us is pleasant and productive from start to finish. With over 20 years of experience in customer service, she’s aims to bring you the best A-rated experience with each visit.
